DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals) renewals cost $495 and must be submitted before Oct 5, 2017. DACA means security, safety, and a livelihood for 800,000 young people in the U.S. Of the 154,000 Dreamers eligible for renewal before the program ends, most will be able to cover this cost themselves. The benefit dinner will contribute directly to the Mission Asset Fund’s scholarship program to cover the filing fees for 2,000 local Dreamers.
To help achieve this bold goal, Chef Traci Des Jardins has offered Jardinière’s Franklin Room for the benefit dinner on Monday, September 25, 2017. Four chefs have come together to donate an amazing 8-course Chef’s Tasting Menu. The dinner will present a rare opportunity to experience top culinary creations from a variety of chefs in one sitting. Contributing chefs are: Chef Rogelio Garcia, Executive Chef at The Commissary; Chef Sophina Uong, Executive Chef at Mestiza; Chef Jeremy Nelson whose resume includes Lazy Bear and Acquerello; and myself, Chef Andrea Gray of Una Señorita Gourmet and author of Celebraciones Mexicanas: History, Traditions and Recipes

We will also be serving the two following wines, generously donated by the purveyors:

Thomas Fogarty 2014 Santa Cruz Mountains Estate Chardonnay

Sante Arcangeli 2015 Pinot Noir, Santa Cruz Mountains

“So many people in the Bay Area wanted to help the Dreamers in our community, many of whom are our friends, family members, and employees, I am blown away by the support we’ve received for this effort, from amazing chefs, from Traci des Jardins, from food purveyors, designers and just so many people who didn’t hesitate to step up. We hope this benefit dinner will not only help Dreamers file the necessary extensions, but also show them how important they are to the Bay Area community.”

All tickets sales will go to Mission Asset Fund’s DACA Scholarship Fund. Dreamers represent the future of the Bay Area. They are our teachers, small business owners, social justice leaders, nurses, and more. This dinner is just one part of the fight to keep Dreamers in their jobs, homes, and communities.

Sarahi Espinoza Salamanca will be an honored guest and speaker at the dinner. Sarahi was named a Champion of Change at the White House in 2014, received a House of Representatives Award in 2015, and was recently named in Forbes 30 under 30.

Ticket Types:

  • Sponsor a Dreamer $495
  • Dinner $249
